Lifelong Learning

As one of the main pillars of our congregation, lifelong learning infuses our congregational experience here at Temple Shalom. We strive to keep our faith fresh and engaging, reflecting on the wisdom of our past and applying it to our present.

All are welcome to join us for Torah Study each Saturday morning, with bagels and lox for breakfast, and a vibrant discussion of that week’s parashah. We explore history, holidays, theology, scripture, and philosophy, with something different in each of our Monthly Monday learning programs on the second Monday night of the month.

“Food for Thought,” brings us into the Temple kitchen to discover how cooking can help us connect to the practice of our faith; these sessions often help us prepare for upcoming holidays as well with recipes we can recreate in our homes.

Every July, we start the summer by welcoming in the wider Wheeling community for a “Taste of Judaism” that offers a thoughtful explanation of Jewish theology, ethics, and peoplehood.

While all are welcome to attend any of our learning programs, we also offer Zoom broadcasts of some of our programming to enable those unable to attend in person the opportunity to participate.
